License Appeals

If your driver's license has been suspended by NSW Police or Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), you may have the right to appeal depending on the circumstances. For example, if you are a P1 or P2 licence holder and your licence has been suspended due to an accumulation of demerit points or a speeding-related offence, you can lodge an appeal with the Local Court. On appeal, the Court has the discretion to either:

  • Reduce the suspension period, or

  • Uphold your appeal and quash the suspension entirely.

An appeal option is also available to provisional and unrestricted licence holders who have been suspended for a major speeding offence. In more serious cases, your licence may be immediately suspended by police at the time of the offence.

It is crucial to seek legal advice as soon as possible if you are considering an appeal. There are different avenues available, and pursuing the correct one is essential to protecting your licence and legal rights.

At ED Legal, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional advocacy and strategic advice to individuals seeking to appeal licence suspensions. We are here to guide you through the process and work toward the best possible outcome for your circumstances.
